NEWS: Podcasts & Radio Added To Links

New Links Have Been Added On The Right Hand Toolbar. Radio & Podcasts.

Just a heads up to all our readers.

We have now added an entirely new Links section to the blog titled Podcasts & Radio on the right hand sidebar.  Here you will find some of our favourite podcasts and online radio shows, where you can tune in and listen to your favourite artists, or simply tune in to learn about new ones.

To begin, we have added the following podcasts: DIGDEEP (CAN), GET THE CURSE (FR), LOUCHE (UK), NOICE (USA), PROTON RADIO (USA) and PULSE RADIO (AUS).

I was just speaking to Harry Avers, known for his work over at Proton Radio and NOICE Podcasts, and he said we are in for a BIG TREAT for Sacha Robotti's show here in Toronto - - stating that the guy is gonna put on a fucking amazing show for us.  Get pumped on that!!

For fans like me, he also gave more exciting news.  Harry says that Klasse Recordings will be doing a Label Showcase on NOICE during the whole month of January, 2012.  He gave us a bit of forsight too as to who will be on the show!  The podcasts will feature the following Klasse artists:

Special KLASSE RECORDINGS Guests:

Luca Lozano
Johanna Knutsson
James Creed
Mr. Ho & Sacha Robotti

...who will play alongside NOICE residents:

Kiki
Cesare vs. Disorder
Emerson Todd

P. Toile

Now that is going to be serious!!!  You can check out the NOICE Podcasts by hitting the site (http://noice.podomatic.com ) before then, but make sure you mark your January Calendars people.  You don't want to miss one minute of January @ NOICE.  Here are a couple of recent NOICE podcasts from Death On The Balcony, &ME and Alland Byallo. Thanks for the tips Harry!

The Foundation: New Post Series

"Frankenbeaze" by Dick DaVinci, Digital Manipulation

The Foundation.

This is the name of a new post series which has been born here at the Deep North, a sibling of sorts for the other series here at the Deep North.  To keep people informed, here is a short list of each of our current post series, along with a short description of each.

1. Three in Three (3 in 3)

These posts present readers with 3 downloadable (128kbps) tracks which are described in three words.  No more, no less.   Check out the previous Three in Three posts: (001) (002) (003) (004) (005)

2. The Black Crack.

This series was created by our crew member Book, a dreadlocked wax addict who, through this series, shares selections from his own vinyl collection with you, the reader.  Check the first post (001)

3. Who The Fuck Is?

The title of this series is pretty straight forward.  These posts seek to share tunes and background information from producers who, in our opinion, are extremely underrated given their enourmous talent for producing incredible songs...which very few people know exist. Check it out here: (001) (002)

4. Usually Not Usual.

Let's not make this as complicated as the name sounds.  These posts feature a number of songs which do not fall within our regular focus on house music, techno and minimal. (001) (002)

 5. The Foundation.

The fifth post series in the mix will take readers back in time to rediscover artists who - - in our opinion, as always - - played an important part, whether big or small, in building the foundation of house music, techno, minimal and electronic music in general.  While we may feature artists who are widely recognized as legends (DJ Sneak, Theo Parrish, Moodyman, Cajmere, Joey Beltram, Cybotron, Mark Farina, Gene Ferris and Carl Cox, to name a few), we may also include some lesser cited, or remembered, producers such as our first featured artist, Spencer Kincy, aka Gemini - - the super talented producer who seemingly fell off the face of the earth.

Before we get to the first feature of The Foundation, here are some tunes from DJ Sneak, Mark Farina and a hot mix by Cajmere (aka Green Velvet), made exclusively for Chicago's 5 Magazine.
