A new mixeroo by the Hermans, aka Max the Fax and Myself which we recorded for From the Deep Radioshow a couple of weeks ago. We hope you enjoy it - - more music can be found on the Deep North's soundcloud page for our blog or on the Hermans' Soundcloud. The tracklist can be found on the soundcloud as well, by clicking on the mix.
530 Techno is a dope little Digital techno label based out of northern California. They are putting out The Hermans first ep this summer. Their Latest upcoming release, by Oilpanic is really nice and features a sweet remix by one of my personal faves Brendon Moeller (aka Ecologist/beatpharmacy) We are truly stoked to be contributing to the labels already awsome catalog and hope we help in bringing this quality imprint at least a few more fans, not to say they dont already have a good following, with support from artists such as Seth Troxler, Lee Curtis, Christain Martin, Alland Byallo, Ritchey Hawtin, and even the infamous Axwell (of Swedish House Mafia fame)... Hey, at least the dude is listening to some good tunes. Anyway Were stoked to say the least and we hope you enjoy your first introduction to the sounds of 530 Techno
You can purchase the release via the soundcloud player, But not until it drops.
Some mixes for you all to enjoy from our crew and friends!
Amine Edge is one of the hottest producers out there right now in my opinion, and the guy keeps producing fire, fire, fire. Here is his latest mix, and when you are done with that one, check out this huge cache of Amine mixes from 2004 - 2012 right here. Visit his soundcloud and follow him for access to at least 10 free remixes and edits. Don't Say I never told you any good secrets.
Our homeboy DJ Jeff Button sent us this mix he made while drinking beers and pissing off the neighbours the other day. Three hours of fun from the man behind the popular DigDeep Podcast Series, which recently released a new exclusive mix by Carlo Lio. Check that.
This is a new mix by Max the Fax and I (Dick Diamonds), aka The Hermans. Dark, dirty tunes that loosely fit the techno and deep house categories. This one contains productions by both of us, one of which is unreleased! Check out more from us on the Deep North Soundcloud. Done completely on the fly without any prior thought.
Another Deep North Crew mix by myself, Dick Diamonds here called Grape Seed Nightmares - - explained on my soundcloud - - which has been getting quite a bit of play, and is one of my better mixes done on the fly without any pre-game thought.
The Deep North's heavy hitter Sean Roman dropped this little mix for the Gotta Dance Dirty blog a couple of months ago, and as usual - - it does not dissapoint. Check out Sean's Soundcloud for more of his amazing production work and mixes.
I met some super special people today with Max the Fax to discuss a future collaboration for a late night event. What made this meeting even more special is that both Max and I have been big fans of these two for quite some time, but only recently connected with them in person after some dialogue over the infamous Facebook.
The two people I speak of are Murr and Rosina, a Canadian couple who make wonderful music that we have been following for quite some time - - yet didn't even know were from our hometown of Toronto until quite recently. I was a huge fan of their 2008 release "Fables and Fairytales" on Kuji Records which later was modified with Adam Marshall and did very well in 2009 with remixes by Deniz Kurtel through Crosstown Rebels. Apparently Damian Lazarus heard the tune and immediately wanted it for his coveted Crosstown imprint. "NA" (which stood for "Nick" and "Adam") had Rosina's A-grade vox on it, and the trio was responsible for shaking the worlds dancefloors for about two years straight.

Nick Murray aka Murr is a nasty techno and house producer who has a number of releases on Adam Marshall's Berlin-based imprint New Kanada, and on other labels such as 53oTechno, Public Transit Records, Kuji, DNH (Nick Holders Old Label) and more. Murr should be a lot bigger than he is, this guy seriously brings that grease - - I absolutely love this third Re-Edit by Marshall.

Murr - Stay (Adam Marshall Extended Re-Edit) >>> [BUY IT]
Rosina and Murr have another - - 3-person project - - together called LAL Forest, which releases really cool music that brings together many diffierent elements in music to create a completely unique fusion of sound unlike almost anything I have ever heard. Check out and buy LAL music on their official site or iTunes. Support people with heart and a love for what they do - - that is what we are all about. Here are a few more samples of the great music these two souls create.

On March 17th Four Deep North residents Max the Fax, Sean Roman, Douglas Carter and I will have the extreme pleasure of playing with Murr & Rosina at their Official Release Party for their new "Best Dress" music video. We are fully stoked on this development and cannot wait to be a part of this experience. More info will be available shortly on our upcoming event page.

It's been a minute since any of us here at the Deep North have made a TDNM (Team Deep North Mixtape) mix for the blog, and that is about to change. Max the Fax made a mix for this sieries a few months ago and was stoked to share it with everyone, but that was made impossible by a disasterous hard drive failure that set him back more than a hot minute - - but from the ashes he has risen again, and one of the things he has done recently is record a new mix.
The mix is a fairly random selection of tunes from our youngest member's (quite small) post-hard drive apocalypse collection. Its a nice little blend of new and old music from both local friends and favourites as well as international greats who have inspired the Fax Machine. Of course, the mix includes a few tunes which he has made and includes collaborations with friends - - such as Deep North crew mates Sean Roman, Rob Steal (White Lions) and myself, Dick Diamonds (The Hermans) - - which he is quite excited to share publically for the first time.
So come on down to squirrel town and get down - - we hope you enjoy the local cuisine.

In case you missed it the first time around, check grab this free download of Max's official remix of Deepchild's tune The Suffering Ones.

Max the Fax here, chilling out on a sunny Sunday morning here in the Deep North headquarters. This will be the first in a sieries of posts i have decided to kickstart focused on the "so called" Re-fix or bootleg edits. Im sure there are many of you out there who have those tunes in your collection that scream "PLAY ME OUT!" yet for one reason or another they just dont work, whether it is due to a less than ideal mix or a strange lack of bass sometimes we just need to make it work. Anyways enough explanation - - here's the first free edit to kick it all off. The original tune is by Danny Bosten aka Das Ding, and came out on an LP issued in 2009 featuring remastered versions of a collection of his music - - most of which was produced in the early eighties in a very DIY fashion. As a result, the tune has a less than desireable sound quality, but that just gives it character. Here is my best shot at making "Take Me Away" a little more DJ friendly, and presentable to the late night dance feinds. Bang it out and enjoy!
I must also add that this silly little sieries isn't entirely confined to my own bootleg mixes... I encourage anyone with "re-fixes", "re-edits", "re-sluts", "re-bakes", "re-tards", ect to submit them to us for consideration as a part of the Free Facsimile series. If you have tunes please send them to firstname.lastname@example.org where they will undergo a series of tests determining their fate. Will they end up in the edit graveyard with a thousand others, or will they stand proud among the other Free Facsimile. WE DECIDE.
Exciting news tonight people, as we are happy to announce a brand new exclusive offer from our friends over at Thoughtless Music. The label wants to share some important information regarding their latest release, which we recently wrote about two days ago.
Deepchild - The Suffering Ones (Original Mix)
As most of you know from - - hopefully - - reading the blog regularly, Thoughtless released a sick package exclusively on Beatport consisting of 8 remixes of Deepchild's tune "The Suffering Ones", which included remixes by two Deep North resident artists: Phantom Ambulance and Sean Roman. You all should know - - and if not, will be interested to note - - that our resident contributor and long time co-founder Max the Fax is 1/2 of the production duo Phantom Ambulance as well. Below are some interesting details which we touched on before regarding the release, in a somewhat expanded form. Please take a moment to read the following as we think it is important and very relevant to those interested in the label, it's artists, and social causes.
THOUGHTLESS MUSIC SUPPORTS THE OCCUPY MOVEMENT WITH NEW RELEASE
"Record label set to donate first 99 sales of Deepchild's "The Suffering Remixed" to #OccupyToronto, and 1% of sales after that...
Toronto label Thoughtless Music has just released a remix pack for the smash single by Deepchild, “The Suffering Ones.” Keeping with the spirit of this song - which takes “Why are we the ones who suffer?” as its rallying refrain - we have decided to donate the label’s proceeds from the first 99 sales of the remix pack to the Occupy Movement; specifically, to our hometown chapter: Occupy Toronto. After the first 99 sales, Thoughtless will continue to donate 1% of all sales of the remix pack to #Occupy.
The Occupy Movement is currently facing eviction and oppression throughout North America. The movement is still finding its voice and direction. Here at Thoughtless we support this process and view the process as a fundamental right. Rather than find fault with the movement, we would like to see it grow and mature into an influential force for those with no voice and limited agency. We feel the Occupy mentality is vital to maintain in order to affect positive change within our world. Some have chosen to condemn the movement for its lack of organization and leaders; here at Thoughtless we applaud the inclusive spirit and horizontal power structure the Occupy Movement represents. We prefer to find ways to support this unprecedented movement rather than criticize or tear it down.
The remix pack for “The Suffering Ones” includes fresh interpretations of the Deepchild track from Tim Xavier, [a]pendics shuffle, XI, Noah Pred, Arthur Oskan, Gingy & Bordello, Sean Roman, and Phantom Ambulance. Purchase the entire remix pack on Beatport.com at a special bundle price and support independent music, thought and culture."
Click here to check out the release. We think it is amazing that a music label which already faces a tough market every day is still in tune with social causes that are real and happening in our own city - - and trying to help make a change.
