The following is a play by play account of my morning thus far. Wake up, eat toast, open facebook, play the first soundcloud link that shows up in my news feed. Nothing out of the ordinary here, But that god damn soundcloud link just blew my mind (insert gorey exploding head joke). Anyway the song I discovered was composed and recorded in 1999 by a new friend of ours here at The Deep North - - Rob MacDonald. Though from what i have heard Rob Mcdonald (aka Broken Toys) is by no means new to the Toronto elctronic music scene and has stuck it out through thick and thin, supporting all sorts of projects, people, and more over the years. I am honoured to seemingly have been the first person to play the soundcloud link and hope to see the play counts rise - - after all it deserves the time of many ears. Big tune.
Without further adu i invite all you crazy techno crackers to light the fuse on this one.
Sean Romandoes not fuck around. Clearly. He releases so much shit (real good shit) that I can't even bear to speak of the production monster any further - - I wan't to lose my mind. Anyways, this one is definitely one of my favourite releases by our crew member - - a remix of TBoy'stune "As U" next to our upcoming release together - - RW004 - - of course. More info on that development shortly. Sean Roman is pretty short too, if anyone was wondering.
Couple of new jams recently uploaded on the DEEP NORTH TUBE, aka our YouTube channel. One video is by Lady Blacktronika'sside project with Chris Mitchell called The Ikenga Project. Leave your comments here, we are sure the producers would love to hear what you think!!

XOSAR must be a total babe, because her music says so. Hot.
This video is getting real weird with it, but the song is simply amazing - - off the debut release of cosmic mystic XOSAR - - and has a gnarly bassline, dreamy vocal samples and is exceptionally fresh. Loving this shit, for real. Check out more of her Detroit techno and cosmic house fusions through Rush Hour Records of the Netherlands website here. This girl murders shit, and I am not even playing around. Check out her newest EP release on Rush Hour, named GhostHaus, which has the sickest album artwork and features two remixes by her friend Legowelt - - that guy with amazingly weird music and ghetto website ever. Big music. Big websites.
It has eluded us for about a year now, maybe 10 months. But we finally got it. A hot new T&Z Mix!!
The mysterious exclusive mix of Hushlamb and Dirtybird artists Talal & Zoiwas not an easy beast to catch in the dense thicket of mix requests, but once the opportunity arose - - by way of an upcoming Hushlamb Feature @ tonight'sLate & Deep, we were able to snag a sizeable catch from the talented production and DJ duo. Super stoked, better late then never right?
Below, you will find a new tune the boys have been working on, an older remix, as well as their super cool mix and a full tracklisting. Remember that all of our previous Deeply Rooted Mixtapes can be found by clicking on this link.
Talal & Zoi are two cousins who are no strangers to our events by now, and this is going to be the third L&D event they play for us. That is pretty damn rare, because we like to give many of the artists we can a slot at the jam...but we just love these guys too much and previously brought them out twice, once being LATE & DEEP #1 the kickoff event which was headlined by the boys and Alicia Hush, and set the tone for a number of big events which would eventually follow.
Tonight, the duo will close the night out at LATE & DEEP #9: Hushlamb Fam Showcase, alongside good friends and crew members Alicia Hush, Anatone and Zaid Edghaim. With releases on labels such as BEEF, Dirtybird, Thoughtless Music, Rawthentic, Mothership, Bosphorous Underground and more, these two are no new kids on the block, and can often be found closing shows for international headliners in the city of Toronto, or outright headlining their own events with sick sets of greasy late night heat with their family members from the Hushlamb Camp.
Here is their exclusive DRM mix for our blog, which is now our 27th mix from worldwide artists. If you like minimal, techno and some deep house, then this mix should provide you with the fix you need to

DJ Dirty Dale can move crowds like few others can, a pillar in Toronto's house music community.
Twenty-five. No, I am not talking about my age, or the number of times I have woken up in a ditch without pants on. Not this time. Rather, it refers to our Deeply Rooted Mixtape series, and the current volume that is being released here before your eyes today, December 8th, 2012.
Twenty-five exclusively mixed sets in nine short months. Awesome. To make that even sweeter, the twenty fifth mix comes from Dale Arsenault, simply, but aptly known as Dirty Dale in Toronto's house music scene. Originally, Dale was known as a dancer, a lover of music who could move his damn feet, arms and body like a mother fucking boss, leaving jaws on the floor and bystanders wanting more. To exemplify this point, check out this clip of Dale smashing the dance in Montreal circa 2008. Yes, he can still dance better than all of us.
DIRTY DALE MERKING THE SHIT OUT OF THE COMPETITION. UNREAL.
I never knew Dale as a dancer, only as a DJ. The first time I saw him spin was at some rave cave on Queen West, in one of the units above the infamous W Afterhours, aka 721. Picture it. I walk into the party, which has barely begun, and crack a cold one. The DJ is a smaller man, unique, yet filled with a demonic energy waiting to be unleashed - - and it was - - before the swelling crowd that steadily pumped into the space. Forward ten minutes, and the beads of sweat on this DJ's brow had swelled to the point that they were rolling down his face, and thats when it came. Like an eighteen wheeler with an oversized load, the drop was absolutely massive, and the crowd literally went fucking apeshit - - and the whole room shook like we were at the epicenter of some fucking world disaster. Almost instantly, the DJ with little beads of sweat and no name was drenched from head to toe, kids hanging from the ceiling and the mirrored interior of the rave cave (dance studio) were fogged up like we were all in there having a group shower. I found out from one of the panting partygoers that the DJ's name was Dirty Dale. The guy was amazing. So amazing that the DJ after him played for about ten minutes, and the party was over. No one could stand hearing an "OK" set after watcing an Atomic Dance Bomb go off before their eyes.
For me, Dirty Dale is exactly what a REAL DJ is. Someone who is absolutely passionate about music, their craft and always has the dancefloor in mind - - not just the newest tunes haphazardly throwin into a "set". I am not a DJ. Dirty Dale is a proper fucking DJ, and I am not afraid to say that he is the best male DJ in this city, hands down. While he does do some producing, he is not known for that. He is known as a selector who knows his shit, who probably even knows your shit more then you do, and who has developed a solid following of supporters who want to see him unleash that unbelievable energy that motivates dancers on any dancefloor, anytime, anywhere. He has incredible draw for someone who -- until recently -- was "just a DJ".
Since I first saw him spin about two years ago, I have seen this Dirt Hurricane absolutely destroy dancefloors across our city at least a dozen times or more. Most of the time Dale is more excited than the crowd is, riding a wave of emotional energy like a general in battle, commanding the respect of those who follow him from venue to venue, battle to battle, dancefloor to dancefloor. Seven times out of ten, Dale will simply steal the show from the international headliners he is contracted to open or close for - - anyone remember Gramaphonedzie's set at the Great Hall a couple of months ago? Anyone?

So here it is, DRM025 by Dirty Dale. It is with great pleasure that the boys and I at The Deep North present this wonderful exclusive mix to all of our readers and the hundreds of Dirty Dale fans out there - - we are honoured.
Dirty Dale is the best in the game. Thanks for being such an inspiration. You are one of the reasons we do what we do.
You heard us correctly: The Deep North is flying Klasse Recordings' musical heavyweight Sacha Robotti into Toronto for a couple of shows. This guy is going to blaze a serious trail of heat for our eighth installment of our popular all night sweatfest Late & Deep.
Although he is not really well known in our hometown, we like to take risks and show people what good music is all about by actually showing them...in person. Make sure you reserve your spot by buying a discounted advance ticket from Earth & Fire on Queen Street West (489, 2nd floor), or take your chances by paying at the door. Be one of 300 people to see this monster blow the dancefloor apart for his first time ever inCanada. If all goes well, you will also see his label mate BUBBA in the early months of 2012 - - plans for Klasse's second arrival are already being made.
We are fucking stoked. Here are some samples to get your mouth watering.
Far from quiet: Terror Tone (TT) knows how to make shit shake.
Bass lovers, listen up.
We love Terror Tone, aka Luke Dz. Personally, what I really like about the founder of Stacked Records is that he is a no-bullshit kind of guy who does what he wants, not what others want. Like actually though. While I think that his approach to music making does make for a hard trip to stardom and leads to difficulties in reaching a truly wide audience, I also think that Terror Tone doesnt necessarily want those things - - or at least not by "conventional" means. His modus operandi does ensure that the Toronto Terror remains true to himself and his art. Plain and simple - - this is Terror Tone. Artistic Truth.
The producer is a Polish workhorse. The guy is a maniac. He is perverted in his craft, incessantly working in the lab, producing big bassline drivers - - both original and remixed - - that make foundations shake, yet are unfortunately underrated. We all know producers which do not get the attention they truely deserve. I do believe he is heading that way though.
While he makes a lot of house music that doesnt always fit among what we usually like to post - - including a one-time collab we released together (Ha! I just noticed Barletta'sremix of our tune is his top seller on Beatport) - - it is no secret that we are big fans of his, and we love what he does. This post is a little jog off our usual Deep North path to give our boy props. Excuse us while we share some things which everyone needs to hear. Take in some of his work, then go ahead and purchase some of that great work he has released himself, and through his new label.
ANA+ONE of Hushlamb productions and Siteholder records drops the 24th mix in our series!
FINALLY.
Our good pal Jesse Morrison, aka Ana+one, decided it was time to get this ass to work on his exclusive Deeply Rooted Mixtape for the blog's regular series. Boy are we glad. Along with his crewmates Alicia Hush and Zaid Edghaim, Ana+one ( "Anatone" not "Ana plus one" - - which sounds like a girl on guestlist) has now pushed the ball into the corner of Talal & Zoi, the only DJ's in the whole Hushlamb crew who have not made us a mix. Let's hope they at least get one in to us, its now a goal of mine.
Anyways, Jesse is a quiet fellow with a great smile, a super nice guy who makes some rad music too. With releases on SiteholderMusic and a number of releases on the way, Ana+one shows that he is not a pushover when it comes to production, or DJing. I loved Jesse's set at LATE & DEEP IV, and exclusive does not dissapoint. The mix clocks in at 56 minutes and is a sweet string of minimal house music that reminds me how much I love the genre, yet often forget about it due to the weak representation it gets here in Toronto. This is outside of the very few who - - like Hushlamb - - strive to keep it alive. Check out Ana+one's tracks on Beatportand Soudcloud quickly before hopping into this steamer like an overly eager lobster.
The tracklist can be found, as usual, on our Deeply Rooted Mixtape (DRM) page, located on the right navigation bar. Enjoy!
